Ben is an inveterate and impenitent noodler. His formative years were spent noodling on piano and guitar, and he did not sink to accordion noodling until his early twenties. Some of the blame might lie on a tiny one-octave accordion he played as a child. He owes his love of folk dance music to his family: Eastern European and Breton dance music from his parents, klezmer from cousins, and Celtic, contra, swing, and more Balkan music from his older brothers. Ben lives in Yellow Springs, where he gives music lessons and plays the keyboard with Emma Woodruff and the Ruffians.
