Perin is a lifelong devotee of the violin. From a young age he has been fascinated by the tones that are created simply by pulling taut horse hair over a piece of wire. His love of contra dance music arose almost as soon as he began playing music, and growing up in New England—considered by many to be the heartland of contra—he was afforded plenty of opportunities to play and dance. Perin currently calls Yellow Springs, Ohio home as he attends Antioch College. He previously played with the New England based band Trip to Nelson. Perin’s style is a driving, hodgepodge blend of Cape Breton, contra, Irish and old-time music.
